Summary

Pneumographic analysis of the carotid cistern allows three main structures to be recognised within it, viz. the optic tract, the carotid siphon and the prolongation of the cistern around the ophthalmic artery and optic nerve. These structures may be well demonstrated by tomography, whereas their superimposition on ordinary pneumograms is responsible for confusing images.
