Abstract
We propose a simple procedure for evaluating the spontaneous (in absence of bias) expulsion of carriers from a nanostructure and exemplify it by computing the distribution of the net charge in the DBQW. We calculate the corresponding correction to the spectrum of this nanostructure and discuss lifting of degeneracy in narrow DBQWs. Numerical examples illustrate these effects in a wide range of temperatures, carrier densities, and widths of the quantum well.
