Summary

We report a new tRNA Asp1 gene near the dnaQ gene, which is located at 5 min on the Escherichia coli linkage map. We named it aspV. The sequence corresponding to the mature tRNA is identical with that of the two previously identified tRNA Asp1 genes (aspT and aspU), but there is no homology in the sequences of their 3′-and 5′-flanking regions.
