Zusammenfassung
Morphologische Strukturumwandlungen in Ganglienzellkernen wurden phasenkontrast- und elektronenmikroskopisch an Ultradünnschnitten in einem Zeitraum von 18 Stunden bis 17 Tagen nach Protonenbestrahlung mit einer Dosis von 20 krad untersucht.

Die Strukturelemente des Ganglienzellkernes sind untereinander vernetzte Filamente mit Querdurchmessern von 30–90 Å und 120–170 Å große rundliche und zylindrische Partikel (Karyosomen) mit kontrastreicher Schale, deren hellere Innenzone von Querleisten unterteilt ist.

Kernplasmaschollen (Chromatin, Chromozentren) stellen lokale Verdichtungen der Strukturelemente dar. Der Nukleolus besteht aus drei im Feinbau voneinander abweichenden Komponenten, A überwiegend filamentär (Substanz des Nukleolonemas), B überwiegend granulär (Karyosomen), C relativ locker gefügte Mischzone aus Filamenten und Granula.

Die im Initialstadium der Strahlenschädigung auftretenden Veränderungen sind fleckenförmige, durch Untergang der Karyosomen bedingte lochartige Aufhellungen (Vakuolen) und Kernkörperchenabsprengungen mit vorwiegend ringförmigen oder siegelringartigen Schnittbildern (Ringkörper). Später kommt es häufig auch zur Rhexis des ganzen Nukleolus.

Im intermediären und degenerativen Stadium der akuten Strahlenschädigung treten in zahlreichen Ganglienzellkernen weitere Veränderungen auf, wie Ödem, Chromatolyse, Pyknose und atypische Membranfaltungen.

Es wird angenommen, daß die initialen spezifischen Strahlenschäden am Ganglienzellkern ähnlich den „mitotischen Degenerationen“ am Interphasenkern, in erster Linie Störungen der an die DNS und RNS gebundenen Zellinformationen sind. Dagegen dürften den später auftretenden allgemeineren Reaktionsbildern auch wesentliche Rückwirkungen des Zytoplasmas und der allgemeinen Gewebsschädigung zugrunde liegen.
