Summary

The use of the pedicled transverse island flap in reconstructive repairs is described. Experience with 35 hypospadias repairs shows that excellent cosmetic and functional results may be obtained, and 5 epispadias cases were corrected in this way with good results. The use of this technique is advocated in cases of severe urethral stricture and is demonstrated on 3 patients. The different techniques are described with emphasis on the critical surgical points and on the importance of the wound dressing.
