Summary
The technique described by Schneider and Stützle [9] for preparing leucocyte- and platelet-poor red cell concentrates removes more than 98% of leucocytes and platelets of whole blood. These special red cell concentrates also can be prepared from packed cells by reconstitution with 200 ml phosphate buffer solution to whole blood volume. The reduction of leucocytes and platelets in this preparation is equal to filtered blood or frozen red cells.
