Summary

The production of a monoclonal antibody against amyloid fibril protein AA, AAmc1, has been described. AAmc1, an IgG 2a,κ immunoglobulin, binds to isolated protein AA and in tissue sections to amyloid of only the AA-type. AAmc1 could, therefore, become a standard reagent for the diagnosis and in investigations on the pathogenesis of AA-amyloidoses.
