Summary
1. Contraction times and spike propagation velocities were determined in the brachial biceps muscle in man. Long contraction times were correlated to slow conduction velocities and short contraction times to fast conduction velocities.
2. Patients with hemiparesis due to central nervous lesions showed longer contraction times in the biceps muscle of the affected extremity than of the normal side.
Zusammenfassung
1. Im M. biceps brachii des Menschen wurde zugleich der Kontraktionsablauf (Kontraktionszeit) schmaler Muskelfaserbündel und die Leitgeschwindigkeit des Aktionspotentials einzelner Muskelfasern aus diesen Bündeln bestimmt. Es ergab sich, daß in Bündeln mit rascher Kontraktionszeit Fasern mit rascher Leitgeschwindigkeit überwiegen (P<0,005).
2. Im Rahmen zentralmotorischer Störungen ändert sich das Kontraktionsverhalten der Skeletmuskulatur. Bei Patienten mit spastischen Halbseitenstörungen fanden sich im M. biceps brachii der kranken Seite langsamere Kontraktionszeiten als auf der gesunden Seite (P<0,002).
3. Als Ursache dieser Befunde wird in erster Linie ein funktioneller Einfluß des Aktivierungsmusters auf die kontraktilen Eigenschaften des Muskels diskutiert.
