On the mechanism of the retention of the Müllerian ducts in the chick embryo incubated at a temperature above normal

  • Published:
Anatomy and Embryology Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Both macroscopic observation and in vitro culture experiments demonstrate that the temperature dependent retention of the Müllerian ducts in the male chick embryo is a reversible phenomenon.

Similarly, in vitro culture experiments show that the anti-Müllerian hormone is being secreted at high temperature.

Possible mechanisms for the insensitivity of the Müllerian duct to the hormone at high temperature are discussed.
