Summary

The psychic and somatic problems of total loss of the penis, and the possibilities of total phallo-urethroplasty in 2 cases are discussed. In one patient the penis had been previously amputated and the testes displaced into the abdomen when he was judged to be female because of his perineal hypospadia. The other patient lost his penis as a result of septic priapism and iliac thrombosis. Reconstruction of the penis with the urethra was achieved by the Gillies tubed pedicle method. The connecting urethra was constructed according to Johanson modification of the Duplay technique.
