Abstract

The incidence of color vision defects was determined in two populations of North Thailand. In the Thai population, wet rice growers since earliest times, an incidence of 5.17% in males was found (Ishihara plates). In the Miao hill tribe, people relying on hunting, for their protein supply to a large extent, the incidence was 2.24% in males. The difference is significant and, together with the different ecologic situation, in favor of Post's selection relaxation hypothesis.
