Abstract
Nitrate in suspended particulate has been measured at 17 sites across southern Ontario during 1976–1977. Using daily synoptic weather maps, the nitrate measurements have been partitioned according to the weather condition on the day of measurement. A study of a single site (Toronto) has determined the frequency distribution of nitrates for each weather class. The distribution of average levels at the 17 sites for each weather class has also been determined. Nitrate levels are found to be low to the east of an anticyclone and under the influence of a cyclone. Under a high pressure system and to its west, levels are high.
