Summary
Luteoskyrin, a Polyhydroxy-Bis-Dihydroanthrachinon isolated from Penicillium islandicum Sopp, is known to have strong cytotoxic effects. In long-term cultures of Ehrilich-Ascites-Tumour cells it causes the formation of very long abnormal chromosomes (Schachtschabel). Experiments with short-term cultures of human leucocytes are reported on which have shown Luteoskyrin to induce chromosomal breaks and interchromosomal bridges.
