Summary

Fluorescent chromosome study of metastatic tumor cells (bone marrow and spinal fluid) of retinoblastoma in a 2-year-old boy revealed highly abnormal findings. The majority of the cells examined at both sites were hyperdiploid, containing 48 or 47 chromosomes. At least 6 distinct markers were found in these cells. One of the markers has a striking resemblence to the m2 marker of retinoblastoma cells described by Mark (1970). No D group abnormalities were observed in the metastatic tumor cells or in the blood of the patient.
