Abstract

N-(phosphonomethyl)glycerine (glyphosate) is an extremely effective broad spectrum herbicide. This manuscript reviews glyphosate metabolism in plants and yeasts, its uses in agricultural applications, interactions with soil and water, glyphosate biodegradation, and effects on microbial activities and populations in soil.
