Summary

The quantitative description of the morphology of chromatin of Feulgen-stained lymphocytes were done by means of the Image Analysing Computer Quantimet. The description consisted of the measurements of the areas of chromatin with different optical density. Three types of cells were analysed: resting lymphocytes, lymphocytes stimulated in vitro with phytohaemagglutinin, and lymphocytes stimulated in vitro with Concanavalin A. The differences in the area representation of the optical density of chromatin between three types of lymphocytes were found. The application of the method for the study of the relationship between the morphology of chromatin and the functional state of the cell is suggested.
