Summary
Copolymerization of ethylene with propylene (or 1-butene) was conducted with the catalyst system of TiCl4/MgCl2/Al(C2H5)3/ethyl benzoate. With increasing the concentration of ethyl benzoate, the content of propylene (or 1-butene) in copolymer significantly decreased. From the result combined with the previous ones, we have proposed the mechanism that the monomer reactivity ratio strongly depends on the number of vacant sites around the active Ti(III) center.
