Summary
-
1.
Studies on chromosomes of lymphocyte cultures of peripheral blood were performed in 11 patients with acute viral hepatitis during the course of the disease and after normalisation of laboratory data. Chromosomal aberrations were analysed and their relationship to the presence of “Australia antigen” (Hepatitis associated antigen, abgk. HAA) was investigated. The results of quantitative evaluation have been described elsewhere (Vormittag u. Paumgartner, 1971).
-
2.
Aneuploidy was within the normal range; hypodiploidy was mainly caused by loss of E (17,18)-, F-or G-chromosomes.
-
3.
The structural chromosomal aberrations predominantly were aberrations of chromatid type.
-
4.
The distribution of the structural aberrations did not appear to be random; aberrations were predominantly observed in the A1, A2 and B4-5 series.
-
5.
Regions of secondary constrictions were remarkably often damaged in the chromosomes B4-5 and possibly C6.
-
6.
There could not be detected any dependence of the results described above (2.–5.) upon the presence of HAA; comparing the localisation of structural aberrations in the HAA-positive and HAA-negative patients there could be found both hints of identity and possible differences.
-
7.
In the acute stage of the disease telomeric associations could frequently be found in some HAA-positive patients.
-
8.
Kind and localisation of structural aberrations showed no change during the couse of the disease.
Zusammenfassung
-
1.
HAA) in Beziehung gesetzt1.
-
2.
