Summary
Streptomycin treatment of competent cultures of Bacillus subtilis kills the non competent cells. This method was used to look for mutagenic effects of Streptomyces coelicolor DNA. This DNA was found to induce a class of met+ clones harbouring aromatic adventitious mutations.
