Summary
Two-hundred fractures of the upper femur were treated with the Bousquet nail-plate system between July 1977 and June 1981. One-hundred and twenty of these patients — 37 males and 83 females, aged 26–96 years, constitute the material of the present study. Ninety-eight fractures were trochanteric, nineteen sub-trochanteric, and three of the basal type. The follow-up time ranged from two to four years.
The Bousquet nail and plate was found adequately to fulfil the mechanical needs of fractures of the trochanteric region.
The operation is simple, safe and fast, and an appropriate angle between the nail and the plate can be easily selected.
All fractures satisfactorily united in good position and no pseudarthrosis was observed.
Mortality and rate of complications was comparatively low.
Résumé
Deux-cents ostéosynthèses de fracture de l'extrémité supérieure du fémur avec le clou-plaque de Bousquet ont été pratiquées dans notre clinique de juillet 1977 à juin 1981. Cent-vingt de ces patients, 37 hommes et 83 femmes, âgés de 26 à 96 ans, constituant le matériel de cette étude. Trois de ces fractures étaient cervico-trochantériennes, 98 pertrochantériennes et 19 sous-trochantériennes. Ces fractures ont été suivies de 2 à 4 ans.
Considérant les nouvelles tendances de la technologie, l'ostéosynthèse selon Bousquet satisfait pleinement aux exigences mécaniques de ces fractures.
L'opération est simple, sûre et rapide et permet la fixation avec un angle approprié entre le clou et la plaque.
Toutes les fractures ont consolidé de façon satisfaisante, en bonne position. Il n'y a pas eu de pseudarthrose.
La mortalité et le taux de complications ont été relativement faibles.
