Summary

This is a case report of a fifty-year old female patient with malignant fibrous histiocytoma of bone well localised in the distal metaphysis of the right femur. It was treated by ‘en bloc’ resection and replacement with a purpose-made polymethylmethacrylate prosthesis and a Waldius-type knee replacement. The diagnosis was confirmed by electron microscopy. The patient had good function of the limb and was symptom free two years later.
