On the metacercariae in Viviparus bengalensis (Lamarck) race mandiensis kobelt and observations on an experimental infection with the echinostome form

Zeitschrift für Parasitenkunde Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Viviparus bengalensis race mandiensis evidently is the second intermediate host of Echinoparyphium flexum. This important echinostome species, in spite of the wide prevalence of its metacercariae in this area, does not seem to have been reported from any of the birds — domestic and wild. The present finding indicates that a search for the adults of this species might reveal its incidence. Relevant previous work in connection with the forms herein dealt with including their adults has been referred to.
