Summary
A description is given of a new Myxosporidian, Gyrospora gen. n., crucifila sp. n., from Indian freshwater fish, Labeo fimbriatus. The new genus is characterized by the presence of a thread-like structure which connects the polar capsules; the spore is broad at the anterior end and narrow posteriorly, the polar filaments are very thick, with a narrow and wavy distal portion and a tapering proximal portion. When extruded, they always cross each other.
