Zusammenfassung
Summary
1. Tanaisia (Tamerlania) freitasiana n. sp. from Tangara seledon, Brazil, and Tanaisia (Tamerlania) zarudnyi vietnamensis n. subsp. from Garrulax chinensis, Vietnam, are described.
2. The occurrence of morphological practically identic adults in different zoogeographical regions is not regarded as convincing for the presence of a sole more or less cosmopolitan trematode species, because in this case changes of specificity for the molluscs serving as first intermediate host are not taken into consideration.
3. In the systematics of the eucotylid species the knowledge of the armament of the cuticula takes a prominent part. For characterizing a species one must prove the presence of comb-like scales (as it is most frequently the case), or of simple spines (seldom), and describe exactly these structures characteristic for each species.
4. The known species of the genus Tanaisia are listed, and it is commented on the present knowledge of the cuticular armament.
5. Within the subfamily Tanaisiinae only the genus Tanaisia is accepted as valid, divided into three poorly different subgenera Tanaisia, Tamerlania, and Paratanaisia.
6. The family Eucotylidae is regarded as homogeneous, among other things because of the occurrence of characteristic comb-shaped cuticular scales as well with representatives of Tanaisiinae as with those of Eucotylinae.
7. The suborder Eucotylata is for the time being regarded as occupying an isolated taxionomic position within the Sporocystoinei, according to the type of cercariae and the stenostomate protonephridia.
