Studies on Bunostomum trigonocephalum (Rudolphi, 1808)

VIII. Investigations in bunostomiasis with precipitin rings flocculation and agar gel diffusion tests

Summary

The antibody response to Bunostomum trigonocephalum is absent or very weak during the first 15 or 14 days of the infection in lambs and kids respectively but subsequently, positive precipitin ring and flocculation tests were obtained. Rabbits were hyperimmunised with the saline extract of the III stage larvae of B. trigonocephalum. The agar gel diffusion test revealed more than one antigenic component in the saline extract of the larvae but only one antigenic entity appeared to be present in excretory and secretory antigen.
