Summary
In guinea-pigs, the peripheral end of the vagus was stimulated with electrical impulses of different intensities. The action potentials set up by single shocks were compared with the changes in bronchial caliber produced by tetanic stimulation using the same stimulus strength.
Is was concluded that the bronchoconstriction on vagal stimulation is mediated by non-medullated fibres.
