Summary
The intestinal stimulating activity of various neutral and acidic phospholipids and glycolipids has been investigated using isolated rabbit duodenum preparations.
Only acidic lipids have stimulating properties. Lysophosphatidic acid is the most active lipid so far investigated. Besides acidity, solubility is an important factor governing pharmacological activity.
The results support the assumption that the action of acidic phospholipids is brought about by increasing the permability to cations.
