In organischer Bindung z.
Summary
After i.p. application of 2 mg sulfanilamid to rats the rate of acetylation is 66% of the urinary sulfanilamid. It amounts to 32% after 48 mg. There is a linear decrease of acetylation in relation to the logarithmic of the dose. Above 10 mg the slope becomes steeper indicative of an inhibition of acetokinase by the substrate.
Acetylation of sulfanilamid is diminished by some 25% after treatment with toxic doses of inorganic mercury, lead or arsenic for 5–7 days. The organic derivative of mercury called Mersalyl and also bismuth which was given for 23 days both were inactive in this respect. The reduced acetylation of sulfanilamid after incorporation of mercury, lead or arsenic can be explained by an impaired synthesis of coenzym A.
