Summary
The pressor effect of various doses of adrenaline, nor-adrenaline, and angiotensine, as well as the hypotensive effect of chlorisondiamine and 1-hydrazinophthalazine was studied in non-anaesthetised dogs before and after one weeks' oral treatment with 5 mg/kg hydrochlorothiazide daily. The rise in blood pressure in response to the first three substances is significantly diminished by treatment with hydrochlorothiazide, while in some experiments the hypotensive effect of chlorisondiamine is enhanced. On the other hand, no definite influence on the resting blood pressure or on the hypotensive effect of 1-hydrazinophthalazine was noted.
The possible causes of the changes in vascular reactivity observed are discussed.
