Japanese satellite program on the solar research for the coming solar maximum

II. Observations of solar energetic particles

Abstract

Two satellite programs for the observation of solar energetic particles are being promoted in Japan. They will use telescopes of very large geometric factor and of high mass resolution utilizing two-dimensional position sensitive detectors. First data of elemental abundances heavier than Fe nuclei may be obtained for some flares. Isotopic abundances up to Fe/Ni nuclei will be observed with good statistics. Both satellites are planned to be launched in 1992.
