Abstract

Using an earlier correlation analysis between the annual sunspot numbers at sunspot maximum epochs and the minimum annual aa index in the immediately preceding years, the minimum annual aa index (21.6) during 1985–86 implies a maximum annual sunspot number of about 190±40 in the coming solar maximum epoch, in about 1988–89.
