Abstract

Subscapular elastofibroma is one of the differential diagnoses of tumors near the lower border of the scapula. The tumor is benign and radical surgical resection is the treatment of choice. However, this tumor mimics a soft tissue sarcoma, both on clinical grounds and on preoperative MR imaging. Awareness of the benign nature of subscapular elastofibroma is important to avoid unnecessary rib cage excision and reconstruction.
