Abstract
The photoacoustic spectroscopy at 633 nm wavelength of a 8 mW He-Ne laser has been used to measure the concentration of orthophosphate dissolved in distilled water. Determination is achieved through the combined use of the colorimetric molybdenum blue method with the high detection sensitivity offered by the photoacoustic technique. A concentration of 1 mmol m−3 (96 ppb) orthophosphate could readily be detected with the relatively simple experimental set-up.
