Abstract

The construction and application of an inexpensive five-hole probe rake is described. The rake consists of ten individual five-hole probe tips mounted on a single probe shaft and used simultaneously to record three components of the mean flow velocity, total pressure, and static pressure. The rake probe spans the diameter of the test section allowing simple actuation to effectively resolve full crossplane flow fields.
