Evidence for two maxima of activity in the 20th solar cycle

Abstract

Analysis of the 5303 Å coronal line intensity and of the sunspot activity during the period 1962–1970 confirms the existence of two distinct maxima of solar activity, in accordance with the previous findings of Gnevyshev for the period 1954–1960.
