Conclusion

This study attempted to determine what selected factors are related to urban nutrition and food habits. Nutritional and feeding differentials in cities can be traced to some attitude and behaviour-influencing factors of urbanization. It is noted that income, choice of diets and nutritional status rise with urbanization.

Rural urban relocation therefore involves not only attitudinal changes pertaining to social and economic life, but also behavioural changes pertaining to what food to eat, frequency and expenditure on feeding. The more urbanized a society the more intensive this change in behaviour is likely to be. It is therefore inappropriate to generalize on urban nutrition without attention to the scale of urbanization.
