Modified rotational osteotomy of the humerus for Erb's palsy

Summary

A modified derotation humeral osteotomy was carried out in 10 patients with Erb's palsy who all had severe functional limitation from residual deformity of their affected arm. The operation is described. The appearance and function of the arms was improved in every patient.

Résumé

Une étude a porté sur 10 patients atteints de paralysie obstétricale de type Erb traités par une ostéotomie modifiée de dérotation humérale. Ils présentaient un déficit fonctionnel dû à la déformation consécutive à la paralysie. Il s'agissait de 9 garçons, 9 étaient atteints du côté droit. L'âge moyen était de 10,2 ans. Tous les enfants étaient handicapés par l'apparence et la fonction du membre supérieur. Ceci a disparu après l'opération, dont la technique est décrite. L'objet de ce travail est de présenter notre expérience de cette nouvelle méthode de traitement des séquelles de la paralysie de type Erb.
