Summary

  1. 1.

    High concentrations of DDT such as 2.5 p.p.m or 1.25 p.p.m or 0.62 p.p.m. solutions bring about an arrest of the heart of Caridina pristis in a very short time. Concentrations such as 0.1 and 0.05 p.p.m. decrease the heart rate with progress of time.

  2. 2.

    A 2.50 p.p.m concentration of dieldrin arrest the heart beat within 100 minutes, while dilute concentrations increase the rate of heart pulsation.

  3. 3.

    BHC appear to be similar to DDT in its effects on the rate of heart pulsation.

  4. 4.

    Water of very low pH and very high pH decreases the rate of heart beat. High salinities increase the rate of pulsation.
