The effect of an external dislocation on the condition for complete fracture from a wedge shaped crack

Abstract

A simple model is proposed to analyze the effect of an external dislocation on the condition for complete fracture from a wedge shaped crack. The results are used to discuss the stability of two coplanar wedge cracks and thereby substantiate the inferences drawn from an earlier approximate treatment of the problem.

Résumé

On propose un modèle simple pour analyser l' influence d' une dislocation extérieure sur la condition de rupture complete ayant son origine dans une fissure en coin. On se sert des resultats ainsi obtenus pour éclairer le probleme de la stabilité de deux fissures en coin coplanaires et de cette facon établir la validité des conclusions tirées d' une etude approximative précédente du probleme.

Zusammenfassung

ZUR Untersuchung des Einflusses einer äusseren Versetzung auf die Vorbedingungen fur den vollstandigen von einem keflförmigen Riss ausgehenden Bruch wird ein einfaches Modell vorgeschlagen. Mit Hilfe der dadurch gewonnenen, Ergebńisse wind die Frage der Stabilität von zwei koplaharen Keilrissen besprochen, Dabei werden auch die Schlussfolgerungen aus einem früheren zur Behandlung des Problems angewandten Näherungsverfahren bestätigt.
