Summary
A novel method for the determination of the rate-limiting step in the protein secretion pathway in recombinant strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is proposed which used several antibiotics that specifically inhibit the processing enzymes in the secretion pathway. This novel method has advantages such as the relative simplicity of the experiments, non-requirement of secretion mutants, and absence of strain effects.
