Summary
Romberg's disease, or hemifacial atrophy, is a well known but rare disorder of unknown etiology. The literature is replete with descriptions of the soft tissue deformity and its correction; however, there is little information about the bony abnormalities with comparison to the soft tissue deficit. Five patients with moderate to severe progressive hemifacial atrophy were evaluated by 3 dimensional CT scan reformatting. Atrophy of bone and soft tissue was noted in all patients in the study.
