Abstract
Inguinal hernia in children is a common condition worldwide. Despite improvements in surgical care, it still carries a certain mortality and morbidity. The age group most susceptible to complications is under 2 years of age. There is still delay between diagnosis and surgical intervention. There is no strong evidence at present to recommend simultaneous contralateral exploration in unilateral inguinal hernia.
