Abstract

Known paraneoplastic effects of neuroblastoma are acute cerebellar ataxias, myasthenia gravis, and papilledema. Fasciitis as a paraneoplastic manifestation of neuroblastoma has not been described previously. An 11-month-old boy presented with a 3-month history of bilateral thigh swelling. Incisional biopsy showed intense lymphocytic infiltration of the fascia lata. A CT scan of the abdomen showed a paraspinal mass medial to the left kidney. Histologic examination of the resected tumor showed neuroblastoma. Removal of the tumor was followed by a dramatic reduction in the size of the thigh swelling.
