Summary

A problem case of a scalp reconstruction in which tissue expanders were placed under a fresh scalp split-thickness skin graft donor site is presented. The pockets of the expanders became infected and one expander became exposed. Expansion was continued using continuous irrigation, and the scalp reconstruction initially planned was successfully achieved.
