Abstract
Four children with severe corrosive esophageal strictures persisting despite repeated dilatations are presented. These resistant stenoses are believed to be secondary to gastroesophageal reflux, which causes peptic esophagitis, perpetuating the esophageal stricture. Attempts at conservative management were not successful. In all four patients an anti-reflux procedure (Nissen) resulted in cure of the stenosis.
