Abstract

Acquired tracheoesophageal fistula (aTEF) due to a decubital ulcer caused by an impacted foreign body is rare in the pediatric age group. The diagnosis of an aTEF is relatively easy by X-ray and endoscopy. Surgical intervention is difficult, and postoperative results are poor. We report an 11-year-old child with an aTEF caused by an ingested foreign body that was successfully treated without complication or recurrence.
