Cardiopulmonary bypass for giant haemangioma resection

Abstract

We report the use of cardiopulmonary bypass and profound hypothermia to control haemorrhage from a neonate during resection of a massive haemangioma invading the left buttock and thigh. Following removal under bypass immediate correction of a severe bleeding diathesis occurred. Applications of this technique are discussed.
