Abstract

The case of a 50-year-old female with a malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the pancreas is presented. This was diagnosed pre-operatively on ultrasound and computed tomography (CT).

The lesion encircled the body and tail of the pancreas and appeared as a large inhomogeneous mass with polycyclic and well-defined margins. Contrast-enhanced CT examination showed marked but inhomogenous enhancement. the tomodensitometric characteristics plus the lack of lymphnodal or hepatic metastases indicated the sarcomatous nature of the mass before the surgical approach.
