Determination of the maintenance energy of Klebsiella aerogenes growing in continuous culture

Abstract

The rate of specific heat output of K. aerogenes varies with dilution rate during growth in carbon-limited chemostats. Growth-rate dependent and independent maintenance coefficients have been measured for cells growing in glucose and glycerol.
