Abstract

I am not at all inclined today to divide the rather small field of ophthalmology into even smaller fields such as strabismus, retinal diseases, anterior segment of the eye, glaucoma etc. One should not forget that such divisions are always and only motivated by purely personal reasons and not at all by the necessity of a specialty.
